Serve to lead
Posted by Joel on Tuesday Nov 4, 2008 Under InspirationHello you beautiful people, Joel here.
I’m not really used to writing blogs and I am terrible with grammar because I skipped year 9, so don’t judge me! Haha!
But seriously, I’m so excited at the moment! We are coming up to the end of the year and normally I’m pretty tired and extremely ready for a holiday. (Not saying I don’t want a holiday). But I’m excited, there is so much happening and things are moving forward.
Lately, I have been reading the ‘Spiritual Leadership’ by J. Oswald Sanders. It’s so good. I have been learning so much on leading and the one big thing that seems to be really sticking out to me is that the best way to lead is to SERVE. Which must be saying something to me if that’s sticking out to me!
We should know that to lead we need to first serve just like Jesus did. But I had this thought that most times we think we have to LEAD our team at church or so therefore, we should serve our team, which yes is correct. So therefore it must also be correct that the best way to lead those that don’t yet know Christ is not to let them know all the wrong thing’s they are doing and hound them about their life choices, but lead them to Jesus (key word LEAD). Serving and loving them in their dark moments and not being the one who would say ‘I told you’.
We need to be the one’s who are there to help, whatever it takes. I don’t know just a thought I felt to share. I love you all. Remember : basically our whole purpose of being a Christian is to love God and love people. It’s our commission!
Much Love

Great songs you have composed and hopefully your group can visit Philippines one day and share about JESUS to the Filipino people through your music (just like Hillsong did). Its a great feeling worshiping our God.
thanks,

This is so true; Jesus said that if you want to great you need to be the least, and to learn to wash one anothers feet. If you can’t do that then you can’t or shouldn’t lead.
Sometimes God takes us through some heavy stuff to show us how to be “leaders” ….I know God shows me regularly my lack of leadership sometimes when I “lead” with my human-ness and not by the spirit.
Thanks for the inspiration
