why spend hours in the studio?
Posted by citipointelive on Tuesday Aug 4, 2009 Under UncategorizedSometimes I reflect inwardly (as we all do sometimes) and ask myself the question…. “Why am I doing this?” What’s my purpose, my reasoning, my motive behind what I’m doing right now? We’re sitting here at Andrew Cochrane’s studio mixing the latest Citipointe Live tracks and I’m asking myself, “Why spend so many hours in the studio creating music?”
I know it seems like a pretty simple question to answer, but asking yourself the question “WHY” can ultimately define and direct where your life and more so, where your heart is heading. I think it’s a habitual question we should be asking ourselves. Because life hits you hard, fast, and constant. And if we can’t help guide this ship, especially what’s happening on the inside, then I think it’s fair enough to ask ourselves are we doing “all that we do” for God or for ourselves.
Making music is fantastic. Yes, a huge blessing. Yes, for me it is dreams becoming reality. However, there has to be more than just the music. More than just creating another song amongst the thousands upon thousands of songs that blast the airwaves. There must be a core God-given purpose. A God-breathed calling attached to what we do in life. Music can bring incredible hope, passion and a persuasion to live for a higher purpose. It can unite differences. Best of all, it can open the Heavens for God to flood the earth. So passionate to see His Kingdom come upon our earth as it is in Heaven.
In a way, this blog is me just spilling my heart and thoughts. I’m actually answering the question “Why”, right now. So, whatever you’re doing right now, it very well may be chillin in a studio producing music, working your 9-5 job or pursuing the dream that wakes you up in the morning… Take some time and check yourself. Check your heart and make sure your motives line up with His.
Nothin but love!
